The '11 BDV is a nice wine to drink now. On the nose, I found ripe dark red plum fruit, sweet spices, a hint of balsamic, dark floral tones, and a touch of savory herbs. On the palate, the wine is medium in body with dark plum fruit, tobacco, and herbal tones. I found the tannins to be slightly aggressive, and there's an above average level of acidity here, so this is a wine that comes off a bit aggressive on the palate in my opinion. Texturally, I'd say the wine could be better with more age, but the flavor profile suggests this is at peak, so I would drink within the next few years.
Relative to most vintages of BDV, the warm vintage seems to have created a quite dark and spicy flavor profile here.
Nez floral, légère pointe viandée, profond, bouche droite avec des tanins abondants, mais fins, très classe, se resserre un peu sur la fin avec forte acidité en finale TB et accessible (à table)

More than 6 years ago, I wrote it was the best young Barolo I’ve had and there is no need to wait on my remaining bottles. Well, I just got to my last one. No longer that young and exuberant wine, it is now mature with lighter fruit and drying tannins. Just lovely and you really shouldn’t wait on it. It may hold on but it feels like it’s given all it has.

Stood up for 2 months and then decanted off sediment. Needed an hour of air to open up well. Light ruby, clear; aromatic, roses, delicate red fruit, strawberry and red cherry, slight mint; balanced, light bodied, prominent tannins with an approachable softness but definitely providing some structure, high acidity, red fruited but also with a presence to it and not necessarily ethereal, medium-plus alcohol (14.5%); finish is medium-plus length. A very nice and balanced 2011 Barolo (not at all warm), and a good Vajra though perhaps lacking a bit of complexity seen in the top vintages. I agree with others that this is close to or at peak but has a decade on this plateau ahead of it. 93 2.5 hours decanted: Not markedly different from ~1-1.5 hours decanted. Nice, balanced, youthful overall, still lacking that next level complexity. 6 hours decanted: this has lost some precision and complexity. 92 Day 2: (Preserved in a Qikvin), showing about as it did after decanting yesterday, ie: balanced but lacking a bit of the depth and complexity. 92

Tasted blind. A bit alcoholic, floral, earthy. I think it will be better in five year or more.
