  Not the most concentrated wine, but the silky textures, purity in the fruit, mineral essence, length and complexity got your attention. It is close to impossible to find these older bottles, but if you run across any, they are worth taking a chance on.

  We opened this Bordeaux to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. It was surprisingly fresh, with more fruit on the nose than we had expected. Having only had a few wines of this age, we expected cigar, leather, etc. Instead, the wine was smooth, with muted dark fruits, cassis and even a hint of rose or flowers. We drank the wine after decanting for about 30 minutes, and enjoyed it for several hours. It actually continued to evolve and improve until we finished it.
