NSG night at Duomo: From the cloudy appearance in glass, this was clear that it had significant age on this and most of us went early 90s. Bouquet was plummy, slightly medicinal with angelica root and honeysuckle flowers, dusty red fruit yet with concentration and purity. Palate ever so slightly sweet with black cherries, cigar smoke, cinnamon spice and bayberries. Great structure with layered complexity of fruits, earth and spices. Tannins nicely integrated now but surely gave me the impression that they would have been a brickwall years ago!

On the nose, dark plummy nose, soft red and purple berries cream, fresh black cherries, modest cigar and earthiness, purple violets, dark roses, modest hint of caramel, cinnamon, extremely expressive, fragrant and deep.
On the palate, great weight and structure, tannin and acidity were very focused on the back palate, the fruits were so vibrant and dynamic, dark plum, red cherry, cranberry, the finish was very long/ good grip on its good backbone and acidity. It is amazing how fresh and great structure/complexity the wine presented.
Compared to other recent vintages Meo we had, this wine showed more seductive acidity and purple fruits (i.e. more feminine, attractive, and nobly elegant).

Auction bottle from Acker, held 1 year. 13.3%. Opened 3 hours. Pale garnet. A just-softened cherry, plum and smoky nose echoed on the palate. It is bright, full bodied belying the ruby color. You sense it was hard and tart for 20 years, and is only now mellowing and integrated. High lift on the acidity, with a minty finish. Still fresh, with years ahead. A pleasure.

(Meo-Camuzet Nuits. St. Georges Les Boudots") This was really tight right out of the gates but soon the nose was singing with cinnamon, blueberries, tremendously complex spice and floral elements, and minerals.Very layered and dense. Almost like an outdoor spice market quality. Unique. The palate was also tight in the get go but soon opened up to layers of rich blue and blackberry fruits. There was some cherry there but more black than red. Really got going after three hours. I would reccomend a three hour decant to anybody who would want to drink this wine in the next year or two.
