  Massolino's VR plots for me needs quite a bit more time to really show its beauty and this was a little too young for my liking. Dark fruit, roses, and cedar opens the bouquet with chocolate, cedar, unriped strawberries and black plums on the palate. Good fruit concentration amidst a brick wall of tannins. There is good potential here and a sense that this could be a great barolo but it wasn't it today for me.

  Pronounced nose intensity with notes of mushroom, truffle, red fruits, toast, spices. Medium+ acidity and high tannin. Still youthful.

  Opened bottle and let it breath for a hour. Garnet in color. Faint aromas in the nose of violet and rose - but muted overall. Great structure, with bright cherries, black currants, iron. Grippy tannins, medium long excellent ending with pleasant almond notes. This is already great - should be superb in a few years!

  Return to Piemonte!; 11/25/2021-12/4/2021 (Castello di Sinio, Alba, other various locations): I think my favorite of the night which perhaps goes to show that I really do like that old school clean style. This is all about letting the fruit shine through. It’s darker in nature and perhaps at certain points (esp with more age) less complex than some of the others so I wonder how I will feel if this is 20+ years but right now it’s drinking better.

  Mørk rød, ingen antydning til bruning. Medium + syre, deilig fruktsødme, på mørke plommer, granskog, . Tanninene begynner å integreres men lett tørrende og samtidig lettbent. Trenger tid.
