FWSG 2016 white burg horizontal tasting. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of chalk, limestone, citrus lemon tart, rich almond nut + honey, cream peach. Developing. On the palate, dry, good high acidity, medium alcohol, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of honeyed citrus lemon + cream peach and some green melon, strong vein of chalk + limesotne minerality, integrating oak toast and spice around the edges. Long broad finish. Not as focused as other Chevalier experiences I have had before, but packed with Grand Cru substance for sure.

Again only 7 barrels here, where you might see 30 barrels in a normal year. There’s some reduction to the aroma with loads of salt, citrus and white flower action as you work a bit of air into the wine. It is rich and concentrated and long and linear.

Beautiful wine. White flowers and citrus on the nose with a weighty palate of bright fruit, minerals, and some unobtrusive oak. Silky texture and totally harmonious. Not particularly powerful at this point, this nevertheless makes a big impression. This is clearly the class of the '16 Leflaive lineup, but the 1ers were the biggest surprises to the upside.

A special one. Lifted aromatics, quite floral. Minerality and intensity wrapped together.
