At the top level, the 2014s are not ready to drink and this Chevy from Leflaive was another reminder of that. At first closed, it only slightly opened up with time, showing promising complexity and precision, but it yet has to fill out and gain that oomph factor.
TN: At first muted nose, with time a subtle bouquet full of citrus and sea shell minerality. On the palate more concentration, full of fine citrus, some floral notes, minerality and a beauitful salinity. Got better and better and the last sips were quite good to but likely displaying only a fraction of what it has in store in the future.
Decanting: This needed a good hour in the decanter to open up.

Oh my, is this monotonous now. Delicate, slight, pale, lean. Lightly citric and that’s about it. No change over 3 hours in the glass. Needs at least several more years to see where this is going since this can’t be all there is.
Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): Initially a little muted on the nose, and really, on the palate too. We decided to put this in a decanter to flesh it out, and damn, it definitely did. There's an almost Chablis-like purity to the minerality here, coupled with a more lemon-oriented fruit profile. On the palate, this was the sort of wine where the last sip was best -- it became more and more expressive and expansive. Very much focussed and precise, this is archetypal Chevalier. Brilliant.

At a restaurant in Dijon. Closed at first and needed 30min in the decanter. A detailed and nuanced wine with a mostly citric fruit profile. Reduction notes of sulfur. Yeast and butter. Salty and wet pebbles minerality, lemongrass. Precise and elegant. Rigorous tension yet with a filigree structure. All building blocks are in harmony. On a par with 2013, but with a fresher fruit and leaner structure.
