  • Mørkere gul på fargen. Ikke oksidert.

Lett tropisk og oljete. Fremstår ikke syrefrisk eller mineralsk.

Bekreftes i munnen. Ålreit nok, men foretrekker syrefriske rieslinger.

This shows lower intensity than Roche Granitique tasted before, reductive, stony again, quince, lime peel, lemon, tight.
The palate is elegant, rich, far more refined than Roche Granitique, high acidity, mineral, tight, long finish.
    Very closed at this point

  • The wine is clear, with pale lemon color, and thick legs.
On the nose the wine is clean, with medium aroma intensity of ripe white fruits, fresh green herbs, mineral notes, honey, lemon, lemon zest, orange zest, white flowers, hints of petroleum.
On the palate the wine is dry, with medium plus acidity, medium body, medium plus alcohol, medium flavor intensity of lemon, lemon zest, honey, mineral notes, white fruits, melon, pear, lychee.
The wine is of a very good quality, due to its length and complexity. It is appealing at time of tasting, but was showing green notes, thus can benefit from further aging, as those will be turned into more riper notes, along with further development of the typical petroleum characteristics.

  • late-night shenanigans (portland, OR): Nose: The nose is deep and soulful with beautifully balanced tones of warm oils, red apples, nectarines, lemon drop, vanilla, spice, yellow flowers, and crushed rocks.

Taste: The feel Full bodied with tart, high acidity. The acidity is still youthful, though not overpowering. The feel is deep and broad shouldered with tones of red apples, nectarines, lemon drop, vanilla, warm oils, vanilla, yellow flowers, and crushed rocks.

Overall: This is young and needed over 3 hours to fully open up. This is a killer, young Zind-Humbrecht that shows off a lot of deep and richer tones. Though this is drinking a bit right now, it can certainly use another 3-5+ years to fully show its stuff.

  • Classic Zind-Humbrecht style - powerful, fruity, with lots of minerals. The color is almost golden, hinting at great maturity. But that is how these wines are from the very first day, and then they stay that way. Fruity nose at first, dominated by peach, red apples, a hint of spice (ginger) and lime, and underneath a tone of petroleum and slate. Full bodied, almost semi-sweet attack. The sweetness soon gives way to a bracing acidity, bringing the whole together in the mid-part in tones of red/yellow apples, peach, some pear and lime. The citrus and lime-tones take over in the finish and aftertaste, leaving a fresh and lively impression. The petroleum/slate tones emerges as a hint on the finish. An impressive wine, balancing power and finesse in a special way. A wine for food, especially fish - both red and white - with some spice. We had it with a soup based on leeks, spiced with lime, ginger and chili, served over pieces a\of halibut and mussels. The wine tackled the spicy course perfectly. A wine that is for drinking now, but that will easily keep for at least a decade. I do not have experience with older wines from this producer (it is just too damn hard to keep my hands of these wines because of their eminent drinkability when they're young).
