Excellent balance with dark blackberry, strong cassis notes, ripe herbal component with old leather chair; yes, a bit ripe but in check and excellent structure. A very good wine for sure. 375 after dinner was perfect. B&T's.

Oops opened this last bottle inadvertently just weeks after opening another. Concur w prior notes that it's not as complex a I'd like, but easy to drink and still enjoyable.
I'd drink remaining bottles in this format as a pop and pour over the next year or two, assume it could go through 26-27 from a 750.

From a 375. Had a quick taste and seemed like a brief decant would help which it did, but be careful. Tannins have softened considerably and after 2.5 - 2 hrs much of the structure has gone but the fruit is still solid. I'll drink my last 375 this year

From a highly discounted half bottle we purchased when we were recently up at the Spire/Jackson Calistoga winery. An hour after uncorking (not decanted) there’s earth and prune on the nose, but prune is softer than when opened.
Lots of fine, powdery tannins leave a dry, dusty front palate finish, with mushroom, herbs and dried cherries in the back. Should pair well with tonites baby rack of lamb, but I’d be cautious putting this up against a hearty steak.
Updating this after dinner and reviewing others’ notes, my thoughts align w AGElvis.I’m also bumping my overall score; this was an 89 or 90 on its own, but this paired exceptionally well with this evenings baby lamb chops. 92+ w food, 91 overall. Frankly one of our best pairings so far this year.
While my notes may be impacted by the format, I’m unsure of the wine’s longevity as it isn’t as rich or dark as I typically expect from mountain fruit, esp at this young age.
First La Jota Cabernet I’ve had. Really enjoyed the merlots. This is somehow seemingly more approachable than some of the merlots I’ve had. Deep purple Ruby color. Aromas of mountain blueberries, blackberries, cinnamon, baking spices, hint of menthol and florals. Smooth at entry but then the tannins get you showing the power of this wine. Could certainly lay down a decade more easy and likely be better as the tannins mellow. I get the hype on these now. 93-95
