This is perhaps on the very back edge of prime drinking. Still pours a dark maroon, crimson pour. The nose is beautiful. Blackberry, bell pepper, iodine, hint of meat, roasted nuts and espresso bean and definitely am getting a tiny bit of age. The palate is definitely more youthful. Black fruits, black cherry, overripe blueberry, brambly to the front and middle. Still has a stiff oak tannin kind of grit on the finish but it really softened after 30-45 minutes showing more elegance. The finish is rather long here and dances on the tongue. Regarding future aging here, I think this one is best consumed within the next 5 years as I feel that tertiary notes are probably going to start peeking in. Definitely in a nice spot right now.

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Our house): Double blind. Aromas of dark fruit, mint and herbs. Abundant dark fruit on the palate. Balanced tannin and fruit; lingering finish. Excellent.

Purchased from an auction, so the bottle may not have been stored properly. Raisiny upon opening. Becoming slightly more balanced as time passes. But a flawed bottle that may not be indicative of what a properly stored 06 would taste like. The moral of the story? Skip the online auctions. Have purchased some very good bottles, but far too many poor ones. Not worth the risk.
