[Into neck fill, cork in good condition] In spectacular condition, opened and slow-ox for 45 minutes before pouring. Pronounced aromas of sous bois, leather, thyme, bell pepper, red pepper jam, dried sour cherries and cranberries, dirt, vanilla, and musk. Med+ acid, med/med+ fully resolved tannins, long finish. This was in a good spot, still showing impressive structure (could last another 10+ years). In good balance and intensity, lots of tertiary notes without fruit disappearing. A great showing and a good example of a better 70's vintage.

Drank alongside with Cheval Blanc 1981 and both was drinking well. Similar nose of tea, mushroom, truffle and black fruits. It seem like 1978 is performing better at its palate. First time drank with Bok at Goodwood Alma.

Nose- Nose- cigar tobacco leaf, dried fruits, fresh herbs & pepper. Very fragrant & intense. Palate- balsamic, dried fruit, noticeable tannins but beginning to soften with herbs & cooked meats, minerality, good acidity in a full body. Really great stuff that has developed nicely with air.

Still vibrant fruit with a complex nose after an hour of air. Good performance for the vintage.

Chris's 1978 Bordeaux Dinner (La Trompette): Still so bright - big and perfectly balanced - sweet but savoury, with herbs. Still some juicy fruit. Very moreish!
