  • Chilled a little bit before serving. Aromas of burnt creme brulee and burnt candied orange peel. Also some floral aromas, which turned out to be a nice foil to the richness. I loved how this wine slid across my palate, yet retained an acidic zingy texture on the finish. It's probably past peak but still was quite the experience to drink. Those creme brulee and orange notes came through as well, to show a very interesting side of Sauternes.

  • Medium goldenrod color. Baked apples, ripe pears, burt toast, nutmeg and honey aromas that are moderate intensity but nicely complex. Good botrytis caramel and honey complexity married with decent acidity and focus. Baked apples, burnt caramel, nicely toasty, medium bodied. Acidity keeps the finish very clean. Very nice!

  • Pretty deep goldenrod color. Flowery nose, with baked apple, hazelnut and honey aromas. Sweet, medium to full bodied on the palate, very smooth, with caramel, baked apples, ripe pears and hazelnuts. Finishes slightly cloying, in a pleasant way, with honey and apples/pecans lingering along with some oaky notes. Well balanced, this has held up well.

  • Medium gold color with a pale edge-- much lighter colored than the 89 I've had recently. Strange nose, a little oxidative, with petrol, overripe banana aromas-- became more balanced with ripe pears as the wine aired. After the funky nose, the palate was a great surprise! Lacking botritys, but still rich, sweet, with caramalized apples, ripe pears, bananas, dark honey. Straightforward but delicious, the fruit was backed by plenty of spicy oak and enough acidity to give the wine focus and balance. Lingering finish of spicy oak, honey and pears.
