Chateau Talbot Tasting; 10/25/2022-10/26/2022 (l"abielle): this was a really pleasant surprise. bright and easy. i would have it again, which alone differentiates it from most white bordeaux. i9 would still not be buying any white bordeaux but if i keep tasting hidden wines that are more and more drinkable, i may discover keeps. my love of white burgs remain at the top of my list but the premox situation makes them relatively expensive but still knock out all the competition. i have found some really nice white rhones but continue to search for more affordable whites as white burgs get more and more expensive and the fear of premox stops me from loading up the way i used to

Simple, quick decant in white wine carafe. Pale but vibrant gold Nose medium intensity but highly expressive, perhaps stemming from the Sauvignon blanc: flower blossom, green apple and faint pear, stone fruit like peach. Faint citrus, banana, etc. Vanilla, honey and smoke from oak. Medium body, medium plus acidity, medium alcohol. Medium finish. Lovely blend of SB and Semillon, typical of the Bordeaux whites. Paired with sea bass, tomato and chickpea.

This is a big fruity, oaky wine, so much so that I'm still not entirely convinced that there isn't a touch of oxidation there too. It's utterly unlike the 2014 which I enjoyed previously. The colour is certainly more golden than most Bordeaux Blancs. The nose is sweet, rich, honeyed. which follow to the palate, where the acidity is quite low, and I would describe this as an off-dry wine. There's not a great deal of complexity, but as aagrawal noted, this pairs quite well with slightly spicy food.
But at ~US$38 (and certainly at the CAV of over US$50) I don't find this to be very good QPR.

Interestingly, a bit sweet or so much fruit on the palate that it comes across as sweet. Enjoyable and a nice sipper with Indian food. 89
