Tight still, coiled, powerful, but light and ethereal notes, countered by grip and punch. Tastes very young. Will be great in a few years, enjoyable now if you’re bold.

La Paulee NYC 2022 walkaround tasting From the bottom part, but not in the water pit. Spicy and slightly oaky nose from the barrel. Soft in the mouth, luscious and viscous, ripe dark fruit, but in balance, rich and reasonnably long aftertaste.

La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Walk around tasting. Dense and powerful black and red berries everywhere, this a firm powerhouse of a Vosne 1er with impressive 1er Cru concentration that seems borderline Grand Cru density. Long finish is particularly noteworthy already. Needs until at least 2028 in the cellar, 92-93 point potential.

PoB - Burgundy 2018 En Primeur (Hong Kong): During an En Primeur walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. I preferred the 2017 EP wines of Hudelot Noellat to 2018 as they are more elegant. Still the wines were solid here with the Suchots quite dense (92), the Beauxmonts a bit lighter (93). Finally the RSV was also dense but had good freshness (95).

Les Suchots from Hudelot Noellat is a nice step up from the Beaux Monts. Planted in 1910. Powerful bouquet of intense dark berries, exotic spices and subtle earthy fragrant. A full bodied wine with Grand Cru qualities and intensity. Blockbuster Suchots. (89/100)
