Christmas Wimps 2021 - Home Alone 2 table (La Trompette): Very nicely mature, with a sweetish nose of smoke, truffle and hung meat. The palate was equally tertiary, with some tangy fruit still evident but the flavours dominated by damp earth and ash. At the height of its powers, on the cusp of senescence. Probably just about my favourite of the flight, because that ashy note was so unique and addictive - superb wine.

Floral aromas with eucalyptus. Iron and earth, red fruits, on palate. There is notable bricking but the wine has plenty of life. With air, more sweeetness and chalky minerality. After about 4 hours, this got really juicy and sweet, more youthful and succulent - quite a shocking evolution in the glass. Beautiful wine!

If this had been served blind, doubt anyone would have guessed the vintage - dark color, big fruit, dense mouthfeel. Served too cold at first, as it warmed in the glass became more complex and elegant. Clos Vougeot can be a chameleon, this leans toward a Vosne Romanee profile. Could easily go another decade or more, but it is excellent right now.

From memory. Deep colour showing some maturity.Nose unfurled over time. Rich , powerful waves of complexity. On palate ripe fruit, tannins fading , earthy rich very long. Lovely wine.

Dark, brooding, yet accessible and elegant. This is a superb example of Clos Vougeot. Would be delighted to drink this again.
