  • Nose: dark chocolate, red fruits, spices, hints of rose petals, cinnamon, mint, raspberry
Notes: still a bit of roughness on the palate upon opening and this could be related to Clos Vougeot with it rustic character and profile. Soon the wine opened up and the aroma is excellent and quite expressive. Very decent Clos Vougoet and perfect to drink now. The combination of rose petals, dark chocolate and red fruits makes this quite a good Clos Vougeot and this is certainly one of the more elegant ones I've had in recent years.

  • Light garnet colour. Nose offers up ripe red and dark small fruits, leather, game, coffee and undergrowth. Delightful palate with lovely balance of soft ripe fruit, subtle silky tannin's and tingling mineral acidity. Long persistent finish. Great CV.

  • Clos Vougeot Tasting: Nose - very perfumed. Exotic dark berry (boysenberry?)
Mouth - raspberry galore. Superbly ripe wine, with somewhat shrill acidity. In some ways it reminded me of a 'natural wine'. This was the hardest of the group of Vougeot for me to get a read on. Ultimately I think it would be a true crowd pleaser. Somewhat reminded me of a MacPhail Sonoma coast Pinot.

  • Bottle variation versus the previous bottle. Acidity was very high with soft tannins. The nose was floral with candied fruits, rose petals, and ripe red fruits. I would suggest decanting the wine for a more enjoyable drinking experience. It should have many more years ahead based on the high acidity. But it doesn't seem like it will turn into a great wine.
