  • Glowing ruby red. Intense red and black cherry flavor, potent tart acidity, moderate oak, lots of stuffing. Very bright. Ready to tame any fatty meat although tough to sip by itself. Excellent Burgundy but wait 4-8 years if you can.

  • The nose here is classic Chambolle with its transparent red fruit and perfume and hints of sweetened cranberry and raspberry. The evidence of the warm vintage is more on the midpalate through to the finish, as this wine starts off very similar to the nose with a light, red-fruited character, and then picks up a bit of a coffee note on the relatively full midpalate. Nevertheless, this is lifted nicely by the acidity and despite the coffee note and the overall fruity drinkability of this, it doesn't strike me as a wine from a torrid vintage. Sure, this isn't a wallflower but the quality here comports well with my belief that winemakers have adapted to the warm and hot vintages and are handling them far better than around the turn of the millennium.
