Served alongside the '98 Conterno Barbera and a flight of '52-'67 Barolos and held its own.
While not having the depth of the Barolo's, had fruit and structure that made it extremely inviting. This bottle only got better over the course of 5 hours so clearly has room for additional cellaring. Revisit in 3-5 years.

corkage at mailino, November 2019. drank along side 99. this was clearly the superior wine with a good deal of red fruit left and good acidity carrying the wine. it's in a secondary phase but in no way tired. the 99 was stewed and off...probably ox'd

Only a master like Conterno can make a Barbera this beautiful after 19 years. Perfect wine to start the evening before elevating to something bigger. Didn’t take notes but 4 of 4 people agreed it was terrific.

UN GIOVEDI IN LANGA: Tasting at the domaine. Kirsch, polvere di caffé e datteri. Poi pelle e sottobosco. Più prende aria più si pulisce dai toni terziari e stupisce per integrità. Bocca amaricante in cui l' annata calda è controbilanciata da un' acidità ancora rinfrescante e il tannino granulare e polveroso è di finezza esemplare. Dopo mezz' ora di decanter diventa graffiante e masticabile. Grande Barbera da piatti autunnali della tradizione. Chapeau

Aged Barbera at its finest. Still fresh with the mustiness that only time in the bottle brings. Great light to medium body.
