By the glass at Noble Rot in Wellington. From a just opened bottle, but it's surprisingly somewhat open. Fig paste, violet, rose sorts of aromas; and just smells good - delicious but deep. Tannic, young, but enjoyable. Enjoying this on its own, although it would probably be best with food at this stage. Good fruit, good acidity. Would like to try this aged.

The 2017 Barolo Brunate boasts high-toned aromatics, blending dusty rose and bright cherries with hints of menthol. This is soft upon entry, quickly building tension through a mix of tart red berries and brisk acids as red inner florals and hints of tobacco form toward the close. While tannic, the 2017 remains quite easy to like already as a pleasant inner sweetness adds a lovely freshness and reprieve from the wine’s youthful structure.

Medium nose is pretty, rose petal, dried cherry, orange peel, sage, hint of singed note. Palate matches and adds approachable structure, med plus tannins, high acid, med alcohol (14.5 tho). Dry finish shows classic notes. Drinking earlier better than most.

Rose, orange peel, red cherry. Bright and open aromatics and flavors but persistent, ragged tannins need time to tame. Very good. Drink starting 2028.
