Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • This has only just recently finished its maceration and it’s certainly an early assemblage but my goodness, this blurry snapshot of 2023 Ducru-Beaucaillou is delicious and characterful. The nose is full of focused, deep, polished boysenberry and Christmas spice, offering a very appealing suggestion of what’s ahead. There’s beautiful balance in the mouth and tannins that are very sophisticated indeed; admittedly I’m accustomed to tasting young wines, but this is all pleasure and no work. There’s a level of purity and polish that are just so Ducru. I look forward to re-tasting this at en primeur when it’s in its final form, but tasting it at this early juncture is a very special privilege for what I'm grateful.
