bottle long forgotten in the cellar, way past the officially recommended drinking date. Nevertheless still vibrant, tannic, alcoholic. The typical Nebbiolo flavours and aromas required some time to open up, like it was a young wine. An exemplarily executed, austere Barbaresco.

Italian Dinner Chez David (David's Place, Mpls): Medium dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour plus. This is classic, showing good maturity, all kinds of dried notes of kirsch and cherry, spice and wood and rose petals, high toned and perfumed on the nose. The palate has a lot of metals, clove, dried leaves, dried cherry, kirsch, balsamic, deep and layered, medium full bodied and still firm but accessible tannins. 92+ to 93pts.

Beautiful but very structured and almost austere this wine will still last for many, many years and is young in its development.

Last bottle. A pity. Only now entering prime drinking window. Years ahead of it. Easily a decade of very fine drinking.
