Drink by 2020 in my cellar; 3/1/2020-7/8/2020: At the end of its life: maderized (a hot year) and many tertiary notes; some cherry cough syrup. Drinkable, just, but drink immediately if you have any of these; I waited too long.
Decanted for one hour. Tart juicy black fruit. Still has forward tannins. Hopefully will seem more balanced with food. Licorice, tar, good with pizza and pasta. None of the excessive ripeness that is typical of the vintage.

Such a shame. This had the nice aromas of of rose petals, road tar and sweet red cherries. Great nose but a strange note in the nose, and upon tasting this had serious bitter tca bite. I was hoping that this was a mis-observation, but after an hour and a half in the decanter the tea bitterness was just growing and the wine was undrinkable. I was really bummed that I couldn't even use this to cook with because it was so bad in the end. I wish I had another bottle as I think this would be a great example of how good a 2003 vintage Barolo could be.

definitely shows the warm 2003 vintage. Dark, and still pretty yuothful, but has some riper, baked fruit profile. Still quite nice.
