Cork came out in 2 pieces; still intact. Wine was dark red with hints of brown but surprisingly bright. Almost no sediment!
Initially, not much on the nose, improved with decanting and an hour plus of time. Eventually, hints of berries on the nose and palate but light, almost thin on the palate. Some earthy and vegetal notes but subtle. Definitely well past it's prime, it still held up to London Broil.

The Eatery: double decanted for sediment back into bottle; Nice earthy nose of faint old dried cassis, earth, forest floor, wet dirt, coffee grounds, hint of tobacco; darker notes, classic old left bank Bordeaux, but sort of a one trick pony--not much going on, but solid and what it should be. Showed better than last bottle in July.

This was dark garnet with brown hints; nose was full of aged bordeaux aromas--musty, stinky sock, damp cellar, wet leaves, slight dark sour cherry, not bad really, and got more interesting after 10-15 minutes. The mouth was very loose, though, with no tannins left, and lightly sour cherry acidity; somewhat flat, thin, lacking structure and body. This had fallen apart, but was not faulty. Interesting to compare with the '64 Palmer from Margaux side by side. The Palmer blew it away and was stunning. With C. Peck at Monopole
