  • lovely barolo - ready to drink with the fruit just about balancing the remnants of the tannin - not sure where it will go from here but may well improve with age

  • Typical barolo that is a good example of tar and roses taste of the region, but just nothing spectacular here. Definitely ready to drink now and open with maybe 2-3 years left at it's peak.

Light garnet color. Flowers and perfume on the nose. Bright red fruit of tart cherry, raspberries, strawberries. No earthiness to it. Long, mouth coating finish. Dry, but not to the extreme of some more complex Barolos.

I think I paid around $50 for this wine and it tastes like a wine in that price range. Would not pay more than that.

  • “Mixed Bag of Reds from around the World”-Tasting, Wine 5 (non-blind), in November 2013. From 0.5 litre bottle. The wine was dark garnet in colour and offered a developed, mildly oxidative nose of withered flowers, lilac, red fruit, cherry, rosewater, marzipan, cocoa and tea. On the flavourful palate the wine showed cherry, raspberry, marzipan, cocoa and coffee, paired with medium-plus well-integrated acidity, medium-plus fine tannin and exceptional length. A medium- to full-bodied, well-balanced wine with good complexity. Drink now and over the next four to five years.

  • Christmas bottle from Kodie - Solid but not outstanding. A bit dark/opaque in color. Some heat coming on after 1-2 hours of decanting. Nose wasn't really showing a lot, maybe a bit of cherry fruit, licorice, and a bit of oak aroma - no dirt or mushroom that I could find. Finish was just a bit rough - seems like it could get better with some more bottle time, but there wasn't a lot of fruit, so.... I think we paid $50, so I'm split on whether I'd buy again.

  • Brilliant red, lightly perfumed nose of menthol and ripe red fruit, light on the palate which is dominated by lean ripe red berry fruit, almost no earth, mushroom, etc. short finish, enjoyable but wouldn't have ever guessed nebbiolo
