  Cristom wines can be rough when young, but this is terrific. No decant. Slightly strong menthal on nose with sandlewood, forest floor, and red fruits. Palate is similar, but a barrage of powerful red fruit, which defies its age. No watered down strawberries here, this is amped up red fruit and actually could go several more years minimum, but very tasty now, though fairly one dimensional on palate.

  Popped and poured. Good color. Nose is all secondary with lots of spice and a touch of iodine. On palate this is also all secondary but has density. Would be better with food at this point

  popped and poured. dark ruby with slight bricking at edges. nose started with plums then evolved to intense secondary pinot with cola, slight rhubarb, and hints of iodine with some alcohol. on the palate, this started soft and sooo smooth with great weight. flavors coat the mouth and finish soft and lengthy. it is in a really nice place right now. very reminiscent of really good aged burgundy.
  after 2 hrs it started to become less sexy and more angular/tannic.
  pop this with a group of 6 and pair it with your favorite pinot friendly dish and everyone will say wow!

  Had this wine at RN74 in San Francisco and it paired perfectly with the food. Was hard to judge the colour as the restaurant was quite dark but it was quite clear and a fairly deep, garnet hue. Nose showed some lovely floral qualities, slight strawberry and a hint of raspberry along with earthy, mushroom funk. This seemed quite lively with a lot of life in it still though after about 1.5 hours after opening, the nose was start to fall in on itself and vanilla (oak) really dominated. So would recommend pop and pour (which is what we did) versus decanting at this stage of the wines life.

  Tasted June 15, 2007 at Joel Palmer House in Dayton. Opened and served immediately. Garnet color in the glass, slightly dusty looking. Dusty nose with some florals and melted black licorice. Flavors of black cherries, berries and red currants. Chewy yet juicy wine. Medium acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium body. Drink or hold. Tasting from 375ml format.
