  • Un vin dégusté en compagnie de Monsieur Barbier, une bouteille extraordinaire, complexe, riche et d’une harmonie rare. La classe des très grands.

  • Private Tasting (@Private location): Clear, medium purple-garnet red. Restrained nose, which opens up with air. Wine was popped and poured, but it will definitively benefit from 1h decanting as it develops in the glass from minute to minute! Dry, good acidity, present but silky tannin, elegant very nice tertiary aromas, all of its fat has gone, quite elegant, slate notes, long. After 25 years this wine is at its peak and it will certainly stay there for several more years. Wonderful experience and a sign that great Prioratos needs a lot of time and can age very well.

  • 1990 Clos Mogador Priorat (Spain, Catalunya, Priorat) (Spanje, Catalunya, Priorat) Kleur: Diep donkerrood, klein randje oranje Aroma / bouquet: Rijp, beetje muffig (vlurkje), Smaak / Afdronk: Vol, behoorlijk rijp, kurk maskeert de nuances, jammer. Wel krachtige tannines en een behoorlijke lengte. Zuren zijn net iets tè. Algemeen / potentieel: Zonder de kurk zou dit vermoedelijk best een mooi glas zijn. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 7 + Smaak / Afdronk: 9 + Algemeen / potentieel: 7 = 78/100

  • Dark ruby red with clear fading around the rim. Appealing, though not very intense aromas of prunes, olives, vanilla and some minerals. Full body, with lovely concentration, providing flavors of wild fruits, very ripe grapes and a touch of licorice. Fantastic structure and balance, with perfect acidity, soft and very well integrated tannins, and tasty toasted oak, which adds another dimension to the array of flavors. Long finish with a big hefty tasty aftertaste. Overall a lovely and VERY enjoyable fully matured Priorat, which provides a superb example of how these wines can become elegant and well structured when fully matured. In my opinion, at its peak, but will cellar nicely for a few more years. Wish I had more, but grateful I had the opportunity to enjoy this one bottle.
