after much discussion it was decided this was a (mildly) corked bottle. Certainly showed less well (musty) compared to the 06 Jadot CdB which is theory should be similar

Pulled the cork at 2:00, didn’t decant, drank at about 9:30. Stunning aromatics, with a great articulation of fruit and spices and flowers and soil. Some delicacy to the feel of the wine, medium bodied it seems, but great power within. And on the palate it’s just not ready, still coiled up and inward and tannic. Should be very, very good with a decade in the cellar.

It was a typical CdB to me. A very fermine wine, light color, light mouth feel but silky smooth palate. The nose was subtle but very very enjoyable now.

This pours light ruby in the glass. The nose shows a pickle brine character complemented by, dark cherry, plum, a touch of cedar, chai tea, iron, and a prominent licorice note (which is a bit of a detractor in my view). The palate is fairly youthfully structured with deep fruit, light tannin, sweet fruit (light confected by the licorice note). A nice wine, but it's a tad on the reductive side to me.

(Clair Bruno Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze) Medium, medium-plus colour. Tight again - hard to get at the aromas. In the mouth I think it lacks a little focus, but the dimension and complexity are easy to see. Less obviously forward and ‘brusque’ as the Clos St.Jacques, but the finish goes on and on…
