Just some brownish colour at the edge, the middle is still quite ruby. Aged nose of cherries, tobacco, toasted bell pepper, dried herbs and fragrant oak. Still quite fresh palate overall for a 43 years old wine. Minerals, dry red fruits and toasty oak dominated the medium bodied palate. Good strength still, totally not weak. But it is clear that this was a cooler vintage where acidity is the key supporting structure. It is not lean and thin. The acidity keep the fruit and wine fresh. Finish is herbecous, smooth and lingering at the back of the throat. Drink up if you have a bottle before the fruits fade away.

Cork came out intact with the help of a Durand corkscrew. First nose is not very promising, but the wine kept evolving positively over the course of a hour and a half or so. The finish is quite short, but nevertheless an elegant earthy, tobacco style of mature Claret!

Past...way past. Don't know how well it was cellared but it certainly wasn't maderized or vinegary. Only the few that like really aged stuff will like this as only the tertiary flavors of leather and dirt remain. I still happen to like a little fruit with the soles of my dress shoes.

Very earthy with crunchy berry fruit and sweet tobacco. It has a black olive saltiness to the palate and some briary fruits. It is not particularly deep but worked an absolute treat with some sautéed field mushrooms.
