I opened a bottle of this wine over the weekend. My wife and I visited Becker Vineyards in 2000 and thought it was among the best Texas wineries at the time. I paid about $20 for this bottle. The cepage is approximately 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc with a small amount of Petite Verdot and Malbec thrown in. This wine has aged very well. A dark reddish crimson color. Aromas of cocoa and crushed grape skins nose. A little more earthy and fuller than the 1999 Becker Cab Reserve I had last year. Notes of red and black berries with some leather nuances. Still rather lively. Nicely balanced with a full mouth feel. Drink this now. It is at or just past its peak. 86-87 points.
