  • Lovely nose, vibrant, young and red fruited on the palate. Beautiful wine. It did start declining after being open around 1.5 hours or so.

  • Dark Crimson color, with faintly mature brown hues emerging at the rim. On opening, at cellar temperature, this has a bit of a funky nose. Shortly, this musty smell dissipates and is replaced by an aromatic bouquet of sous bois, anise, and fresh, damp mushrooms. Lest this sound sepulchral, it is worth nothing that the palate is still very much alive, with tart fruit flavors and a persistent woodsy note. This has abundant acidity and a bit of tannin left, such that I would confidently drink this through its thirty-fifth birthday. Superlative wine; mature yet vivacious in surprising ways, this was a rare treat.

  • Nice for 26 years-old. The acidity is here, with enough fruit to balance it. I'd have to say that earth, pine-needles and red fruit are the overwhelming flavors on the palate with a subtle herbal quality as well. I had this about 4 years back and have been holding this bottle since.

  • I splash decanted it 4 hours before we drank it and poured it back into the bottle. it was moderately sedimented. I tried it when it was first opened and it was tart and one dimensional. My wife despised it at the time. It was a deep red with only a trace of browning around the edges. It really opened up and was a completely different wine. I think it was among almost everyones top 3 of the night including my wife. It was an elegant multifaceted wine with smooth integrated tannins. Medium to full bodied with a long finish. Notes of black cherry, chocolate, flowers and crushed raspberries. It had a velvety feel and was drinking very well at 16 years of age. 93 points.
