What a perfect bottle! Cork and first impression in the glass: very fresh and young! Dark color; dark fruits on the nose. Wet stone, a little cigar box and plenty of "funky barnyard" that needs at least an hour or two to disappear! Then you get a typical left side 1996 in perfect shape - perfectly melted tannins, well made structure. There is not a big wave of fruit nor is there great complexity, but overall a pretty good wine in its drinking window but will still be there for a decade. 92+

perfect mid-neck level, long elastic cork, not much sediment, 3+ hours in decanter, nearly opaque black-cherry red with some brown tinge, rich fruity powerful robust nose, cedar, earthy, palate also quite robust, good depth and length, just lacking a little in finesse, elegance and class, a good choice for quite strongly flavoured food, in its drinking window but no rush (12.5%)

Cigar box, cedar, dark cherry, plum, smoke/tabacco, hints of chocolate. Med acidity, med alcohol. Med+ finish. Very more-ish. Integrated tannins and drinking beautifully. Gloria is a joy and primary / secondary / tertiary notes continue to change as I tried it again the next day and got to say it has good structure, elegant (nothing disjointed)

I've always been a great fan of Gloria and it used to be great value for money. This is a decent drink and is highly approachable, but I doubt I would be buying at today's market prices.
