Bottle 111/1499- Slow oxed for 5 hours. Nose was a bit musky and cloudy initially but it quickly blew into a flower field. Cinnamon, bouquet, potpourri perfume, red fruit, candied fruit and citrus. Palate had mix of sweet red, citrus and candied fruit. It had layers and power of the Leroy grand cru. Great length and complexity. Drinking well now. Totally outshined the 06 Leroy Clos Vougeot on the side. 95-96

Leroy Dinner at Binkley's (Phoenix, AZ): One of the tasters called this out as fake, said it tastes nothing like Leroy. So it was quite a spirited debate around this wine. To me it came across as polished and accessible, atypical of '06 vintage in general. Didn't have near the complexity of the other vintages, as to be expected from a wine so young. I don't know what to make of this, and while I enjoyed it, wouldn't be one to chase after especially at today's Leroy prices.

Friday after Thanksgiving (FAT) - Part 1 - Burgundy 2006 (Palm Beach Gardens FL): Small taste, brief note. Perfumed start with gobs of red berry start-to-finish. Some earth on finish with dried herbs. Great concentration. My only complaint (in the context of this amazing tasting that included 10 bottles of Leroy 2006) is that it tasted much more like "Leroy" and very Vosne-like, and not particularly showing Clos de la Roche or Morey character to me.
