  • Drinking any bottle of wine by Armand Rousseau is one of life’s great pleasures. Faced with a light and bang average vintage in the shape of 2007, Mr Rousseau has teased majesty out of meagre coins. The nose was enthralling - red berries, raspberry coulis, violet flakes and the limpid note of undergrowth and wet beagle. The palate was silky, mellifluous like a sonorous bell. The finish was long, precise, persistency with great panache. In short the wine was celestial. Does anyone in the world produce greater wines than the noble address of Armand Rousseau? Personally I think not.

  • Drank side-by-side with 08' Mugnier Amoureuses, which was the clear winner by a mile, but this Rousseau was very good. Much darker and richer than the Mugnier, with very pretty aromatics. Juicy and expressive.

  • Beautiful wine. Aromatically irresistible. Elegant, relaxed, on the palate. Do not see upside from here. Not for those seeking body, weight, and power.

  • Rousseau 2007 Dinner (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Served single+ blind in flight. Black fruit, meaty notes, good concentration but moderate finesse. Good+ now with upside from here, but frankly not worth Rousseau market prices.

  • Good aroma and good taste straight from opening the bottle. I gave it two hours' decant, but I didn't notice any significant improvement or change for doing the decant (and there was almost no sediment). Some wine was left for the next day - and again I didn't notice any further improvement (or deterioration). Light body, good balance, enjoyable, not a complex or intense wine. Good drinking with food. I rate this as being top-end of 'Good' rather than 'Very Good', hence my score of 85 which looks mean against the others here, but is not intended to be. This is good wine. This was the last of my bottles of this vintage.
