NobleRottersSydney - Vintage Night 2008 (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {screwcap, 14%} [Stephen] Sharply, if slightly developing nose of vanilla and spicy white pepper. This is hefty on the palate, medium/full at least, with medium dusty tannins, balanced oak, soft red fruits, with charcoal flavours, slightly fumey (not overtly oaky though), with a medium-full body and a slightly warm, medium length finish. Might see another 5-8 years just to meld a little, but it’s always been a fairly powerful style at the expense of finesse (at least in my experience). Drink it with plenty of strongly-flavoured food.

At 10 years old, this is on full song. Boysenberry, red currants and blackberry, white pepper with hints of apricot kernel suggesting some viognier blended in. Soft powdery tannins provide gentle grip along the palate culminating in a long finish. At peak. Drink up before it dries out.

Decanted half the bottle. Perfumed, with black berry fruits and dried herbs. Then palate is medium bodied, and carries the aromas wonderfully. It's got a spicy lift, lovely intensity, and lots of interest. Ripe flavours mixing with the savoury herbs and spices. Tannins are in the background and provide adequate structure. The remaining was consumed the following day. Again it showed very well, with finesse and length the strengths.

Ripe dark fruit with some eucalyptus and nice savoriness, well balanced and enjoyable.

Nice, well developed Shiraz. Wont ring bells, but solid wine. At its peak
