Opened with very little expectations given the very difficult Bdx year and a mid shoulder bottle with signs of leakage some time ago. Struggled to get the slightly sunk in cork out with the Durand. Bricking in the glass but clear. On the nose surprisingly clean as well. Dried fruit, some leather and wood spices. Seamlessly integrated for a wine that must had seen quite some sugar added. A touch medicinal but not oxidized. Very nice

Ard & David’s 50th birthday dinner (Chez David, Amsterdam, NL.): Upper shoulder level. Lovely colour, mature but lively appearance; clean nose, lovely vinous warmth, cassis and cedar and mint, classic Pauillac; lovely and lively palate, cassis flavours, complete for a 1969, lively acidity in check; clean and dry finish, good length. Much better than the bottle from the same cellar tasted ten years ago. Rating applies to the first 15 minutes after opening, loses its definition very quickly after that.

Dirtier and more masculine than the Margaux. Autumn leaves, kirsch liqueur as graphite.Similar to the Margaux, this still have good freshness and some Inner perfume, good power and fruits intensity, very good length and still so much life. A bit rougher but more depth. Orangey, dark chocolate at the back.

Surprisingly good. Well bricked with touch of herbs and eucalyptus. Disappeared quite quickly
Such a treat to drink

Mouton-Rothschild Tasting (Kronenschlösschen, Eltville): Certainly better than expected with an attractive nose with coffee and malt. On the palate a bit washed out, thin but entirely drinkable.
