Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 94 points

  • Bordeaux 1990 plus some extra's (@ VadM): Got this wine blind with the remark the wine could be undrinkable. Well, it wasn't. My blind notes were: Carmine red color. Tea, sweet spices and chocolate in the bouquet. Quite old, but still good acidity and soft bitterness. Also some salty licorice. Until so far the blind notes. After the wine was revealed we were astonished. The color still so much alive; no orange, not even in the rim. And on the palate the wine was still so very drinkable. Ok, past its prime and quite tertiary, but still pleasurable to drink. Impossible to score a wine like this. Considering its age and the fact it is still alive it might deserve a 99 or a 100, but for the drinking pleasure of today 86 maximum. According to the person who brought the wine, it came from a private cellar where it was stored for several decades. The label was badly damaged. Trusting this was a real Mouton 1924, I feel very honored I was one of the few who had the opportunity to taste/drink it.

  • @ 1990 Bordeaux proeverij, restaurant Vis aan de Markt.
Blind geproefd.
