This has turned into a wonderful surprise. If you’re lucky enough to taste, the nose is floral and apricot, and mouth is rich, lucscious, citrus and honey. Good to drink now, but who knows where it will go.

5th Annual Wilson School Auction Tasting (5th Time's a Charmes): Label was a mess, cork disintegrated and fell into bottle -semi-translucent dark brown with clearing at edges -luscious rich caramel butterscotch -med acidity, bitter orange, creme brulêe crust, caramel oak -had low expectations on opening but this turned out to be spectacular, rich but not heavy and good balancing acidity, was still excellent on day 2

Yellow-golden in colour. Super ripe apricots, a bit of honey, slightly spirity, peaches, marzipan. On the palate again notes of marzipan and almonds, apricots, caramel. Very persistent and round. A lovely bottle!

After Loek's 2003 Bond Vecina and 2008 Corton-Charlemagne from Bonneau du Martray it was his turn to tast blind the Climens 1970. No sauternes was his guess, and in fact he should have been right. The wine has lost too much sweetness and showed his age. But than came the dessert of John Halvemaan, beautiful and soft black chocolate with slightly caramelized orange, simply but perfect, and the Climens came in a second youth and supported perfectly this dish. So for once, the wine was worth 90+ point, but to be honest, under normal conditions it is an enjoyable wine with an amazing lively colour, but recognizable at age.

Classy, not plump and with a nice balance, but.. just missing the vivacity to impress.
I will retaste the wine soon.
