  • bottled drunk over 3 days. intense golden colour. Nose very aromatic. the first day, the nose was a bit dissociated with a finish on typical (not very elegant) sauvignon blanc aromas. the nose was fully integrated and more pleasant from the second day. the palate was refreshing all along, good balance. ready now.
to be noted that I switched to white wine Zalto glasses from the second day. this may explain the difference on the nose.

  • 1998 Burgundy Grand Crus - Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin Singapore, Chapitre de la Printemps (Harbour Grill, Hilton Hotel): I actually rather liked this little sideshow. A relief after trying (unsuccessfully) to pair red burgs with seafood. Golden brown in colour, made me think it was completely oxidised, but this was still drinking pretty well. Nose was full of salty, saline seashells, some preserved kumquats and sour plums. Plenty of age on the palate - slight apple cider flavours, some brown apples, but still with plenty of lively ripe lemon tones and a peachy background note. Finish was nice and nutty, and very fresh, with the saline mineral tone on the nose reasserting itself right at the end. Still alive, still drinking rather well, but I would drink up if I had any in my cellar. This will not last for much longer.
