Tasted by BernieMSY on 10/28/2023 & rated 92 points: Popped and poured.
Much better than expected. A touch of bricking at the edges, but otherwise a lovely garnet color. Raspberry and leather nose.
Still lots of red fruit and mouthwatering acidity. Some tannins remain, all capped off by a savory profile. This one was a pleasant surprise. (208 views)
Tasted by VinhoVerde on 11/12/2022 & rated 94 points: Light to medium brick red color. Fragrant dark cherry and licorice bouquet. Ready to drink now with its forward soft flavor. Lush soft fruit, well-rounded, yet still has good grip and length. Goes on and on in the aftertaste.
Cork popped about an hour before drinking. (387 views)
Tasted by joshabramson on 6/18/2022 & rated 92 points: Tasted a bit old and prune juicy out of the bottle, but with a little bit of air this cleaned up nicely and was quite enjoyable. Fully mature and certainly fun to drink. (507 views)
Tasted by MikeATL on 12/31/2017 & rated 91 points: Elegant and delicious, with a little dust and fine tannin. (1480 views)
Tasted by BernieMSY on 10/3/2017 & rated 87 points: Faded but not without charm (1520 views)
Tasted by kevinacohn on 2/14/2014: Private Dinner (New York, NY): On opening, whiffs of cedar and earth followed by bright red fruits, with sweet, tart cherries and rocking acidity on the palate. After two hours, a black cherry aroma and flavor dominates, accompanied by truffle, dried violets, and of course damp earth and dried leaves. Slight candied strawberry on the finish. This shows no sign of age, and is in fact far more primary than the 1998 I've had on a few occasions over the last year. Rated 2 on a scale of -1 to 3. (3763 views)
Tasted by jhngo on 11/28/2013 & rated 90 points: good easy drinking wine (3306 views)
Tasted by yui on 11/18/2010 & rated 89 points: should have decanted it more. wine left in bottle was better next day. Score based on 1st day (4074 views)
Tasted by Gregory Dal Piaz on 4/12/2008 & rated 88 points: The nose on this wine offers superb freshness, especially for the vintage, with it's notes of tarragon, leather, cigarette smoke and hints of cocoa cookie dough. This opens a bit tough on the palate with grippy tannins though lovely acidity. The texture is quite Burgundian and while the midpalate offers up tons of red berry fruit there is not much complexity or length. Still a bit too youthful this should add both in due time. 2011-2018 (3648 views)
Tasted by bevetroppo on 8/21/2007 & rated 89 points: Lovely but fading. Dry leather at first open, it responded to air and came alive for an hour and a half before starting to decay a bit. Really enticing aromas and flavors of leather and shoe polish with overripe, at-the-cusp-of-oxidized, slightly sharp, cherry fruit. Very much a seductive older woman, an analogy I might want to avoid given my advancing age. Not a good wine for those in search of a quickie, but as Janis said, "get it while you can." (3526 views)
Tasted by wmbar on 7/1/2007 & rated 90 points: Needed every bit of the 10 years to drink as advertised. (2064 views)
Tasted by R2-D2 on 6/27/2005 & rated 92 points: I love that dried herb, leather, dark cherry, vanilla nose of a good Tuscan wine. Vibrant acidity, good fruit, perhaps too drying for some ... lots of subtle curves to the palate. It's elegance beat out a damn fine SV Uriah by a hair this night. (2482 views)
Tasted by jcubed on 4/16/2005 & rated 89 points: Edges bricking. Nose of cherries, and strangely enough, salami. Acidity on the lower side, with currants. Medium finish. Tasting may be skewed due to taking antibiotics. (2377 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
