Flight 2 (3 Notes)

  • 2007 Georg Mosbacher Forster Pechstein Riesling Großes Gewächs 91 Points

    Germany, Pfalz

Light yellow color. Exotic nose with pineapple and white pear fruit and a mineral backdrop. Fairly robust on the palate with exotic fruits, pineapples, peaches and pears, expanding first at first but it then pulled together by the tight acidity leaving room for a mineral driven finish. The acidity is tart, and maybe lacking a bit of freshness.

  • 2007 Müller-Catoir Breumel in den Mauern Riesling Großes Gewächs 93 Points

    Germany, Pfalz

Light straw yellow color. Super pure and wildly intense nose with white flowers and pears. Equally intense on the palate, with more fat and ripe white fruit, pear and lychee. Gaining notes of flowers and minerals on the finish. The somewhat full bodied taste is perfectly balanced by a striking acidity and great length. Very nice.

  • 1990 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese 95 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Amber golden color. Great, intense nose with notes of brown sugar, mango, coconut and caramel. On the palate it is very inviting and easy drinking while at the same time possessing the complexity to attract ones full attention to marvel over this. Delicious sweet fruit, syrupy texture and honey notes. The underlying powerful acidity makes this dance over the palate.

Flight 7 (2 Notes)

  • 2003 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese 91 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Light yellow color. Sulphur dominated nose with sulphur, cabbage and rye bread. It even has sulphur notes on the palate and small bubbles. Decadent sweetness, clearly marked by the residual sugar and the slightly under balanced acidity. With some air notes of pears and mango manages to push the sulphur a bit to the back, but the overpowering sweetness is still present.

  • 1967 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese 89 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Amber golden color. Smoky nose with notes of caramel, burned sugar and apricots. Fresh and lively acidity, and a touch of sweetness, which is nicely balanced and marked by its age. At first some dried fruits, primarily apricots, unfortunately the midpalate is a bit thin and watery with slight notes of mushroom before the medium intense finish.

Flight 9 (2 Notes)

  • 1975 Studert-Prüm Graacher Domprobst Riesling Beerenauslese 96 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Light amber golden color. Very inviting and intense aromas seems to jump out of the glass with notes of apricots, orange marmalade, caramel, exotic spices and fleeting nuances of perfume and incense. On the palate it is huge and layered. First with lots of tropical fruits like mangos, oranges and lychee, then more dried fruit, apricots, and flowers. On the finish is has notes of minerals and caramel pressing through the ongoing layers of fruit and sweetness. Syrupy viscosity, but just when you think the mouth coating nectar is going to become sticky a whiplash of acidity brings it back in balance. So overwhelming, yet so elegant.

  • 1994 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Felsenberg Riesling Beerenauslese 98 Points

    Germany, Nahe

Amber golden color. Fantastic nose with aromas of apricot, figs, dates, banana, scorched wood, rubber, petrol and wet stones. On the palate it is extremely fat and layered, stunning intensity in the exotic fruits, dried bananas, oranges, apricots, figs and dates. Out of this world concentration, but the most unbelievable lightness and crispness. Clean and pure flavors, perfume and flowers fields, crazy acidity, which surprises in this complex and extreme syrup-like dessert wine. So much power, but at the same time elegance without comparison.

Flight 10 (2 Notes)

  • 2000 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Eiswein 96 Points

    Germany, Nahe

Dark golden color. Very inviting nose with sweet, dried fruit, apricot, honey, browning pineapple and banana, brown sugar and lavender. Fat, fat palate, literally syrup-like texture. Insane concentration and intensity, loads of exotic fruit, pineapple, mango and litchi. The palate is almost completely dominated by primary fruit, only showing the very first notes of maturity. The extreme sweetness and thick texture is held in tight reins by the laser-like acidity, which is so powerful to balance this extremity that you can almost feel the enamel disappearing from your teeth.
