Introduction

The theme was: "Wines that need to be drunk; some might be a bit too old, some a point and some possibly still with some future."

It was a great tasting on a Monday evening! What a way to start the week :-)

Thank you very much Daan for this beautiful line-up and surprise! It was an honor to be present :-)

Flight 2 (1 Note)

  • 2014 Richard Leroy Chenin Les Noëls de Montbenault 91 Points

    France, Vin de France

The bouquet is not very expressive because the wine is still much too young, but there are white fruits, minerals and some anise. On the palate pear, blossom, other white fruits, minerals, herbs, soft citrus and some pleasant bitterness. Concentrated wine. Special biodynamic wine from a small plot with a volcanic soil. No sulfur used.

  • 2008 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc 94 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

Complex bouquet with ripe white fruits like pear and apple, honey and some nuts. On the palate a slightly reductive (positive) start, ripe yellow fruits, apple, marzipan, mild acidity. Overall a firm, concentrated, round and complex wine. A real beauty! Ready now and for several years to come.

  • 1999 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Blanc De L'Orée 95 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

The bouquet shows some development and rustic flavors, but is still very lively with ripe yellow fruits and even some pleasant green impressions. On the palate ripe and soft yellow and white fruits, a bit fat, some pleasant vanilla from the oak, flowers, white pepper, some green impressions again, mild acidity and pleasant bitterness. Ready now and many years to go. I preferred this wine just a little above the Chave 2008.
