Not a fan. Not sure if it is the vintage, the blend (not sure what) or something else. Thin and uninteresting. Left half the bottle on the table.

Tasted on day 2...and it was still fabulous. Gobs of fruit and chocolate, without being over the top...this is yummy, not jammy. Rich, deep and already quite complex, this will be a beauty in 15-20 years.

Tasted over two nights, a gift to Kathy from a fellow worker, label showed fading due to sun and light. Nose of black cherry, sage, and earth, more of the same on the palate, touch simple, lacks fruit and winemaking skill, medium body, medium finish.

Any CA or WA cabernet or syrah (Estrelle, St. Paul): splashed and slo-O'd for 2 hours at cellar temperature. This wine was big, fruity, fairly nice if a bit heavy and dense. 5 years ago I thought this wasn't ready. Now, I feel that it could improve with more cellar time, but I worry that it will just get more dense and heavy-handed.

Bait and switched at a restaurant - 2018 advertised, 2019 delivered and didn’t have energy to turn it down and start over.

The wine is simply not ready - so it’s likely unfair to judge it too much at this time. It opened as being super juicy, reminded me of Oceanspray Cran-Blackberry. The alcohol was in check, and the oak didn’t stand out in either a good or bad way. Low to mid tannin. While it slightly improved over dinner, it just made no sense to be drinking it at this stage, particularly at its price point.

On the verge of completely cracking up. Tastes of Madeira and rank caramel upon opening. Some of that blows off with time, leaving a sort of sweet-sickly taste, almonds, and citrus. From Trader Joe's. Not recommended.

Purple fruit - blackberry, dark cherry, and a little plum. Smooth mid-palate with decent depth for the price point. A little rich and somewhat sweet. Solid finish but not overly long nor deep. As usual, a solid/reliable wine for the price but it doesn't over achieve in my opinion. 95% cab, 4% merlot, and 1% malbec.

With K&O, socially distanced wine on our patio...last bottle of this 5 years ago, good time to check in on it. Drank next to an 02 Lascombes, nice to contrast 2 wines at a great point in their evolution. Splash decant, drank over an hour

Medium ruby color, no separation. Nose showing dark fruits, floral/violets, earth notes. Palate showing blackberry, currant, cedar, licorice, damp earth. Full body, richly texture. Long finish, tannins smooth and dusted.

In a great spot right now. Earth/terroir is dominant at this point. Maybe a Napa version of Haut Brion at this stage...:) Well, stored bottles should continue to drink at this level but not likely to improve much. Great showing on this evening.

After about 1 hour of breathing, this wine opened up beautifully and showed all its aroma and flavor. An excellent balance of fruit, spice, and tannin. Long lovely finish. On the nose it shows cherry, clove, nutmeg, and a hit of tar. On the palette, the fruit and spice tastes become more complex and the tannins play a successful supporting role. This wine was lovely with a dinner of homemade ravioli filled with fresh corn and herbs dressed with pine nuts in a butter and marjoram sauce; steak and minted peas fresh from the garden.

Amazingly long finish. Such strong tannins, though quite chalky. Very unique and well structured wine, positioned for the long run. Perfectly balanced, great mix between new and old world styles. Not sweet at all, but with refreshing dark fruit to balance mid pallet earthiness. Can’t imagine how much better this wine will show as the tannins wear off. What is really intriguing is what lies underneath the tannins. Such quality fruit. Definitely a wine worth trying now, but only if you have several other bottles that you can enjoy as the wine develops.

Clear medium purple/ruby.
Dark cherry, blackcurrant, red cherry, blackberry, brett, earthy minerality, sweet spice, oak. Hints of violet and pencil lead. Developing.
High acidity, full body, pronounced intensity of blackberry, cherry and dark fruits, violets, chalky minerality. Medium+ fine grained tannins, long finish.
Now this is interesting. A Napa cab sauv with rich dark fruit but supported by almost Burgundian secondary tones of earth and florals. Limited bottling from the specific block in the SLV vineyard. Hard to say how this one will go as it ages, but it will certainly be interesting to retaste.

Nose of rhubarb and cassis with touches of cherry. secondary notes of cedar and white pepper.
Good jammy dark red fruit with dense overripe cherry with some faint very slight raisiny notes with a frame of faint cigarbox spices.
Medium body with good smooth mouth coating tannins
Moderate finish

Surprisingly good... needs about an hour of decanting, but once open and breathing, this is a beauty. With a little more age, this will be a good ringer for the Margaux appellation. Love the bitter dark chocolate, lavender, violates, and white flowers. Maybe a kin to Chateau Lascombes?

This classy and savory wine probably needs another year or two in order to hit its stride, but it has a compelling polish and intensity at the moment. I haven't had a wine from Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in about 10 years, but this is distinct and delicious wine, albeit a touch darker and earthier than your typical Napa Cabernet.

Dark red in color and full in body, the wine offers aromas of boysenberry, cocoa beans, wild thyme, and graphite. Tastes of blueberry, milk chocolate, and olive tapenade, with a round and creamy finish that carries fine-grained tannins (more polished than many Stag's Leap wines, though I guess the suppleness is a characteristic of Fay). Blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. 14.5% alcohol. Decant at least an hour.

Not what I was expecting from a SLWC Fay wine. No velvety, soft texture. On PnP it was extremely tart. Threw in decanter for an hour and it did improve from there. High toned red/cherry fruits, tart/acidic. Maybe needs more time?

Not worth the price. I like the SLWC wine club for some of these special blends, but the price makes me think they are just leftover juice from the Cask 23/SLV/Fay that they can brand into something "unique".

Very well balanced and after a 2hr decant, the finish was very long and seamless. Tannins have melted away and are perfectly integrated. Still some fruit, but more secondary notes now. Out of the 4 vintages Ive had (05’, 09’, 12’, & 13’), this 2012 was my favorite. Drink now or in next couple years if you like balance and fruit still in your Cabs.

Simple, oaky, flabby cab. Better than most, but there is no personality here, and no sense of place or style. Light years from Fay, SLV, Cask 23 bottlings.
