4/7/2022 - Paul852 wrote: NRVery ripe dark red fruits on the nose , and these continue to the palate. For me this is too ripe and Parkerised, no elegance. Not a repeat buy for me at the ~US$21 I paid, although I can see that it might appeal to those that prefer big, unsubtle, in your face type wines. 1 person found this helpful, do you? 91-92 Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

5/30/2021 - jeffreylubowski Likes this wine: 91 pointsComing between the 2013 and 2015 vintages, this would always be facing an uphill battle. I see 2014 on these labels and I'm usually not a buyer of anything from Tuscany or Piedmont for that matter. On sale for about 35 so I had to try. Glad I did. More than impressive for the vintage. Hits all the traditional bdm notes, sour cherry and leather and gravel. On the dark side. Tannic and more than a few years from peak. Good job. Do you find this review helpful? 10/30/2015 - sequoiagrove Likes this wine: 90 pointshad it again. I actually bought it for a tuscany tasting Im hosting later in november, but something urged me to open it. first pop n pour it was thin and lacking. then as the night went by it became increasingly interesting and unique. so dont be too fast to judge it. it is the BEST rosso di mont. I ever had. better than some brunellos. I dont even consider it my kind of wine. I normally like more earthy, cedar, earthy tannic wines. but it really has a lot of flavour, slight licorice, brussel sprount (confirmed!) flowers, dark red berries, ticking your tongue. stays in your mouth increasing intensity after swallowing. it reminds me more of my fav. burgundies than tuscanies (maybe because I normally drink american styled brunello and supertuscans from tuscany). all in all, an alluring mystique wine, so raising my initial grade. 4/9/2016 - BigGDaddy Likes this wine: 93 pointsReally a wonderful Brunello. Needs a long decant. 4-5 hours. Smooths out wonderfully. This is an exceptional wine but until it's ready it will be tannic and sour. Please wait. This turns into a deliciously rich and smooth wine. Nice balance and structure. So nice. Saved one for another year of aging. Will only get better. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

7/16/2015 - wineaficionado Likes this wine: 87 pointsColor: You can see all through the wine. A hint of orange at the rim. Nose: Oranges, a floral component, red berries of which predominantely raspberries. Mouth: More tannic that I expected. A bit too tannic for my liking. The nose is much better than the aromas which are wishy-washy. 14% alc. Perhaps I didn't do this wine justice. The half full bottle after having spent 2 days in the fridge under vacuum has improved. The depth of the aromas is serious and now licorice and cinnamon is more pronounced. Hence 2 points up. |

2/20/2015 - Rezy13 Likes this wine: 92 pointsFriday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): See through crimson with rusty rim; dried cherry, leather, plum skin, orange oil, luxurious quality on nose; medium plus texture, silky, dried and some fresh red fruit, some leather and plum on the finish, restrained ripeness; called 2009 BdM; very good; a really good showing as I am normally not a fan of their BdM or the 2009 vintage in general. |

It's amazing to me that this is the same grape as the Chianti (and same year) as the wine seems incredibly different. I get the dusty flavor and a bit of light black pepper later on. Tannin too strong to get much beneath that right now. |

5/30/2014 - Lyubomir Lefterov Likes this wine: 93 pointsI like this one very much, a focused fruit perfume on the nose, that comes with excellent freshness and friendly tannins. The tannins are soft which makes the wine very drinkable now - which was a surprise. But the wine is so elegant and graceful that it is hard to resist. |

1/31/2014 - Eric Guido wrote: 88 pointsThe nose showed sweet, almost candied, red fruits, black licorice and brown sugar. On the palate, ripe black cherry and hints of citrus washed across the senses with a slight tannic tug. The finish was fresh and lively with mouth-watering, spicy red fruits. Yet, as much as I enjoyed this wine on the palate, the nose was simply too sweet for my tastes. |
