Very smooth tannins, lots of power and very long finish. This is a classical Bordeaux beauty. Still on the young side but already amazing stuff. Nose shows smoked flavors, toasted bread, lime and apples. Very elegant almost light but at the same time long and multifaceted. An enormous wine and so addicting. Much better than the 2003. 9/3/2013 - Wine_lvr Likes this wine: 94 pointsDark in color. Nose of berries, mint and licorice. In the beginning almost cooked berries but this went away after around one hour. The wine still feels very young and it improved in the glass. There is still good potential in this wine. Decant for two hours or let it rest for another 3-5 yrs. Good stuff! this is the way a Napa Cab should taste. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

2003 Château LascombesMargaux Red Bordeaux Blend more |
1/5/2014 - Wine_lvr Likes this wine: 91 pointsJust an easy drinking and fruity Bordeaux beauty. Blind I would not think that this wine comes from Margaux, it reminded me more of a modern St. Emilion. But I guess this is the 2003 heat. Drink now - 2025. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

9/1/2011 - Wine_lvr Likes this wine: 95 pointsMontrose Vertical Tasting 1989 - 2005 (Work in Progress) (Switzerland): Tasted blind: Deep garnet in color. Leathery and fruity nose. As one would expect the tannins are still quite present, at the same time the wine has a lot of power and is very long. The taste reminds of black currant and chocolate. Overall it a wonderful wine at the moment still on the young side. Wait or decant, whereas waiting is likely the safer bet. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

2007 Château Le Boscq St. EstèpheRed Bordeaux Blend more |
9/12/2014 - Wine_lvr Does not like this wine: 84 pointsOut of the half bottle, this wine is past its prime. It is not undrinkable but has no more fruit to handle the tannins. In the current phase it is just dry, tannic and has quite a bit of acidity. This wine was fun to drink two years ago when it had enough fruit (to support the lack of depth), but now it is just a plump and one dimensional wine. Maybe better out of regular and large formats??? 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

Fine bubbles, nice balance but a bit short in the finish. Easy drinking Champagne but in the current phase there are better alternatives for less money. 9/11/2013 - Wine_lvr Likes this wine: 94 pointsChampagne Rosé Tasting: Tasted blind: Nose of strawberries and Brioche. Great lenght and quite complex. NV Larmandier-Bernier Champagne Premier Cru Rosé de Saignée Extra BrutChampagne Blend more |
9/11/2013 - Wine_lvr wrote: 91 pointsChampagne Rosé Tasting: Tasted blind next to the Marie Noelle Ledru and the Oliver Horiot Saignee Roses. The color of the Larmandier Bernier always stands out as it is the deepest (100% Pinot Noir), even in the middle of other Saignee Roses. The wine showed extremely young and did not give away any flavors... likely because it was a just degorged bottle (2012) and was served too cold for a Larmandie Bernier Rose. In my previous note of this wine I suggested that this wine should be served at around 16 degrees celsius and out of large glasses. I still insist on this. This is a wine that requires patience, but the ones patient enough will have a beautiful and quite unique Rose in the glass. Not a crowd-pleaser but a wine with a potential of 93 to 94 points in a few years... 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

1/14/2014 - Wine_lvr Likes this wine: 94 pointsTasted blind: Clear but surprisingly thin garnet in color. Initially a very leather dominated nose which turned into pleasant red berries, Coke and fine leather notes after around two hours. The wine is long, has power and has smooth tannins. Now at the beginning of its drinking window. Decant for an hour or two. Great GPL! 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |
