Quite a bright floral nose with lots of ripe black fruits. It’s juicy and fresh with fruit that’s ripe but not over the top. There is a touch of grip and good acidity. Becomes a touch more intense at the back of the palate with a real hit of black berry fruits and spices. Youthful and easy drinking. Very good for 8.99.

Quite a tight nose, maybe a hint if cherry and cherry tomato juice. Quite elegant with good acidity and a bit of grip. The fruit inspire and sweet with spicy cherry fruit and a creaminess that develops with time in the glass.

Quite a powerful nose with lemon and white flower blossom. Full of flavour but feels effortless with lovely poise and restraint. The fresh, mineral citrus character continues on the palate and merges with layers of oatmeal and brioche. A touch of honey on the long finish. Excellent stuff, drinking very well.

Very nice nose, still young feeling with lots of bramble fruit and Indian spices. Very full and spicy, it’s densely packed with black fruits but there is a bit of floral character and good acidity keeping everything feeling fresh. Still a nice bit of grip from the fine ripe tannins. Good length with layers of dark chocolate and figgy raisins filling the back of the palate. Excellent.

Classic Tondonia Blanco nose of smoky candied fruits and that slightly oxidised, sherried note. Focused and pure with delicate sweet fruit. Gains weight and depth on the mid palate with a powerful nutty sour lemon flavour. Huge length on the finish, first candied fruit then creamy caramel. Lovely.

Dark ruby red. Lovely nose that opens with black-cherry tart and vanilla, then reveals an iron-rich meatyness. Flavoursome and precise with youthful fine tannins, fresh raspberry and a subtle smoked meat flavour.

Caramel aromas with a little orange peel note. Silky and full of flavour, notes of toffee on the entry with citrus freshness across the midpalate. Richer on the finish, smoky at times, with a lingering honeyed, nutty character. Really good balance between the rich flavour and the fresh acidity.

Tasted blind in week two of Blind.Faith’s tasting competition. I went for a 2018 Tempier Bandol Rose, so not tooooo far off. Quite a glossy reddish salmon colour. Powerful on the nose with candied sweets, strawberry and a little savoury edge. Lots of intensity and power on the palate, but still bright and fresh with an elegance beyond the depth of flavour. Notes of pomegranate and tinned peaches. A bit of tannin? Never had one of these - very good.

Big plump nose of juicy blackberry and vanilla. So very different to the 76 alongside it. Shows what can happen in nearly 30 years of development. Dense, ripe and spicy with very youthful grippy tannins. Good acidity and a long spicy, almost minty finish. There for the long haul and there's no rush to drink these unless you want to.

Raspberry with a red-ink core. Still youthful. A bordeaux style blend with blackcurrant, mulberry, cassis and some minty eucalyptus. Silky texture with good acidity and smooth chalky tannins. Sleek cassis and mulberrry fruit with some tobacco in the long finish. Very good.

Much like other 01s this is perfumed and vibrant with aromas of ripe red berries. Pure and precise with zippy red fruits and lovely acidity. Gains a bit of richness in the class revealing more red berry fruit and a touch of tobacco and delicate vanilla on the finish. Lovely, but so very young and has decades ahead of it.

Really interesting nose. On first pour there are notes of redcurrant and a little VA high tone. With time aromas develop of toast, green pepper and marzipan. Really complex but light on its feet. The first glass has the classic concentrated ripe fruit and eucalyptus character of a Barossa Shiraz yet this is light on its feet and elegantly styled. With time in the glass it becomes more creamy with waves of fruit, a little prune character, roses, frangipane and apricot. Very long finish with a lovely lingering gingerbread sweet pie crust flavour. Superb.

Black fruits on the nose, quite primary aromas. Quite a lithe texture, almost light on the entry gaining weight and grip on the middle. The entry is dominated by quite sweet fruits and a little floral note, it then develops more of a savoury character with a cigar smoke character on the back of the palate. Very enjoyable, still quite young but drinking well.

Really powerful lime juice aromas. Very round and soft on the palate - not what I expected. There is some juicy citrus fruit and a nice depth but it really feels like it's missing the acidity to sharpen it up. Bad bottle?

The nose is powerful but not intense, nice black bramble fruits and a little fried bacon note. Big and powerful, packed with blackcurrant and blueberry fruits and dark chocolate. Holds the 15.5% alcohol well - it feels nicely balanced (although it is undoubtedly a big wine). The tannins are well integrated, there’s the finest touch of grip left, a little bit of asian spice and the bacon fat character lingers on the back of the palate. Lovely stuff.

Served by a Chapoutier representative at a press tasting. Unfortunately far too cold which really muted a lot of the flavour. Bright fruity nose with blackberry and cherry aromas. The tannins dominate, really brought out by the cold. Realistically better than an 84 but scored on the day.
