I agree with Wine Spectator (90-91) on this one: sleek, polished, mocha, dark plum, focused and driven. Great QPR.

Probably one of the most disappointing wines I've opened in a while. Went raisiny and pruney on me when I was hoping it would go blackberry and savory. Damn! I'll stick with their more affordable Angels Share line in the future which tastes much better to me.

Wow, not enjoyable at all. I've had Schild from two previous vintages and really enjoyed them. This was like syrup, and unfortunately had to be poured out. Can't call it corked since it's a screw cap.

Great everyday pinot. It has a very fruity nose to it with a little candied cherry type smell. Second bottle of the night and was great for chatting. Don't know that it would go all that well with food though because of the berry candy type flavors.

3/21/2010 8:23:00 AM - unbelievable this wine. i couldn't believe how inexpensive it was when whole foods put it on their holiday top ten wine list at $6.99. one of the better pinot's i had in 2009 and the qpr is absolutely of the charts. glad you enjoyed it as well - i've recommended it to a couple people and they've all loved it as well.

Kicking this up a few points since the last bottle. Don't know if it was time or what I paired it with, but this was much more enjoyable than previous bottles. Nice soft red fruit with cola elements going on. Would like a little more acidity but can't complain. Drinks well above its price point.

Sour cherry, peat and mineral nose with dray cedar palate and finish. After opening up for an hour the nose has much more black fruit and currant with raspberry on the palate. The dryness has been replaced by a lush smooth finish.

Vegetables on the nose, cedar, tannins and too little fruit even though it felt sort of sweet. Not very well structured, but decent for the price. There are better alternatives.

ruby coloured, on the nose I felt spices, currant and caramel, with medium intensity. Light bodied, tannins still need time to soften, a little "warm", meaning acidity doesn't counterbalance the alcohol, lasts 6-7 seconds in the mouth.

Decanted for 90 minutes and I will start by saying its too early to drink this wine, but if you do, go at least 2+ hours decanting. That said this really took a great roller coaster ride over the next 90 minutes with some Porterhouse steaks. Big and bold enough to compliment the food and has many of the great Bordeaux nose and palate attributes, but it still is a bit disjointed and slightly hot. after the food was done and there was some left to sip alone, it got very tannic on the finish, so I think it was evolving in the decanter, but not in a good direction - maybe e few more hours needed? If someone else poured one tomorrow, i'd happily drink it, but for my other 5, I'm waiting a few more years - the caliber of this wine earns it the right to drink when really ready!

OK for the price, but definitely just worth the money, not a bargain here. Don't really know what to say, but it has decent length, a lot of grip/tannins, fruit is a bit subdued, but that's just an old world thing, I guess. Overall, so-so.
