My husband said this was bar-none the best sparkling wine he has ever had. It's elegant, perfect bubbles, and paired well with our roasted chicken and potatoes. |

11/23/2023 - sh6k Likes this wine: 98 pointsOne of the best champagne style wines I’ve ever had — huge toast and almonds but also a strong acid backbone. Reminiscent of Ulysse Collin and Egly and other big grower champagnes. Brilliant with a rich Thanksgiving dinner and also sipping before and after. There’s an urban legend that LD wines don’t age well but this is only getting better, it’s so big and with lots of acid that I expect it will last for 10+ years. I’d be interested to see it mellower and with some mushroom notes though I don’t expect I’ll have enough bottles to get there. |

About as perfect as it can be, orange, melon, raspberry and grapefruit with some spices, pastry yeastiness and very fine bubbles with long finish and nice acidity balancing good minerality |

9/25/2010 - zinfidel Likes this wine: 97 pointsFrom the Barney Rhodes cellar, perfectly stored from initial release. Beautiful medium-gold color, lightly effervescent. Crisp green apple with toast and sweet caramel notes. Like a delicious carmel apple. An amazing and truly memorable wine, and right up there with the best sparkling wines I've ever had, 66 dom perignon and 79 cristal. |

8/15/2016 - Hamersly Likes this wine: 97 pointsA wonderful nose of yeast, baked apple and warm spices, then oh so creamy in the mouth with a dry finish that never turns astringent. Tight, refined bubbles. Simply superb. Probably my favorite Schramsberg wine, and I like them all. Seems to be drinking at its peak, where it should remain for at least a few more years. |

1/29/2023 - mflesh wrote: 97 pointsFirst of a mag and 750 popped. Stunner. If all you know is Champagne, you will be scratching your head when drinking this, wanting for it to be a powerhouse champagne from a blue chip producer. Well, it's not. This is good ol California Sparkling wine. And I will tell you this is the best sparkling wine house in the states. This wine is 17 years of contact sur lie, disgorged only 4 months ago!! This is 85% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Noir, 47% Napa and 43% Sonoma with the balance from Mendocino and Marin counties. Beautiful golden color in the glass. This wine immediately hits with a nose of brioche, roasted nuts and toasted breads. Entry is small to medium bubbles. The pallate of brioche, yeasty, scorched bread with peach butter, sweet apple fritter and nuty goodness throughout. This wine is IN. YOUR. FACE. with all of the mature yellow fruits. Full bodied. This wine will not only be a perfect drinker for the instance where you just want a great bottle of sparkling wine, but would go really with just about everything. Fried chicken? It's perfect pairing. Steak? No problem. Pork? You betcha. The weight and grip of this wine is insane, finishing with brioche, white chocolate, yellow fruit, yeast and a rounded yet acidic quality. Wow. 97+. |
