5/1/2010 - eliotfagley wrote: 98 pointsLet me not mince words: this is the best wine I've ever had. By a great distance. The nose is full of bright red cherries and a light dose of a mushroom-y forest floor fragrance. The structure and mouthfeel are incredibly velvety, and waves of flavors washed over my palate for over a minute. I was completely unable to identify the traditional mid-palate transition because it just kept attacking with new waves of red berries, creme, and savory acidity. The finish went on and on. It was so delicious, I wanted to drink faster, yet so complex I wanted to savor every millisecond. This was a life-changing wine for a lifelong Northern and Southern Rhone lover. |

Modest start of mostly black fruit, expanding towards middle and finish with herbs and spice coming through at end. Big long-term potential. |

5/19/2018 - HowardNZ Likes this wine: NRLong lunch with Martinborough winemakers (Martinborough, NZ): Served blind by me, paired with the Dugat-Py. No sediment on decanting. Like most tasters, on the day, I preferred the Perrot-Minot over the Dugat-Py. Damp black soil, underbrush, black cherries and other dark fruit and a touch of high cacao chocolate. In the mouth, dense and powerful. A lovely rich wine with real matière. “A lot of supple fruit”, said Kai. Nice minerality too. Relatively approachable. Black fruited and earthy with a little funky sous bois. John however again identified brett here that, again, I could not see as a fault. Lovely satiny mouthfeel. For me, not far behind the Rousseau in quality. Still, ideally, cellar for 5+ more years. |

Opens up and fruits get redder and the beat gets faster. Gives a passing glance to Charles with some leather and floral elements. I enjoyed this a lot. Honestly, a perfect glass of a GC level Burg to relax with for brunch. |

Love the floral nose, very expressive. Spicy tannins still hanging around but not obtrusive. Excellent density and length for a village. Bitter chocolate finish. Drinking now but should last another 10 years with ease. |

3/13/2016 - Collector1855 wrote: 93 pointsMedium ruby. Expressive nose of mainly dark fruit, plum, dark cherries, very VSR from the dark elements and also a touch violets. Fresh and creamy on the palate, also quite ripe which comes at the cost of the bright fruit. Nice and polished but I wish for a tad more energy for a score in the mid 90ies. Drinks well now with 1h of decanting. 93+ |

This 2018 offers a sweet array of dark berries and flamboyant stems. This is more Vosne Romanee than Nuits Saint Georges, rich with good phenolic ripeness. Lacy fruits with firm backbone. (88/100) |

1/9/2018 - jmoore431 wrote: 87 pointsAnother go at this, all previous bottles either trashed with TCA (like Tavastagan's experience) or simply blunt and overwrought, horribly extracted wine. Very dark and smokey; "foursquare" at best. Tasting partner kept saying "impenetrable" and "ashtray". As several previous bottles were corked, best I could say was that this was at least drinkable but no real fun in doing so. Another "made rather than grown" wine of extraction. |

5/14/2014 - grayfont Likes this wine: 92 pointsPop and pour, we shared a bottle over dinner over the course of 90 minutes. This was delicious. On the brownish side of purple, looks older than it is. This wine is energetic. While the fruit is in the background and the earthier elements at the forefront, what fruit is there is vibrant. Perhaps the most striking feature of the wine is the super long peppery finish. This combines great flavor and great mouthfeel. I love it. |

3/29/2014 - Paul S wrote: 90 pointsRelaxing Saturday Lunch @ Capital Restaurant (Capital Restaurant, New Bridge Road, Singapore): A bit of a coincidental overlap here - the trio of Burgundies that we had (a pair of Chambolle 1er Crus and this Gevrey) contained two wines from the 2000 vintage. Unlike the very advanced 2000 Barthod 1er Cru Charmes though, this seemed really backwards. I thought it needed some 7-8 years more in the bottle at least. The nose was a bit tight, showing drifts of mineral and ferrous metal and earth over black cherries and wild berries, with brighter shades of red fruit under underneath. There was just the slightest hint of dried flowers around the sides. The palate was still very structured, very masculine, with metallic mineral notes running through rather monochromatic tones of black cherries and blackberries laced with a touch of spice. Not bad, but I found this a bit too heavily extracted. There was a lot of depth and power wrapped up in its rather thick texture, Grand Cru scale I would say, and it was nicely balanced too, with a nice clear acidity running all the way into the finish. However, unlike the pair of wines that preceded it though, this seemed to lack a sense of terroir. Even if the former wines were on the masculine side for Chambolles, you could still tell that they were Burgundies. This was so thick and extracted in the mouth that a lot of us actually thought this was a Rhone. Maybe time will soften it and open up its rather surly depth somewhat. At the moment, it is a decent wine, but not quite up my alley. |

7/21/2013 - lkilpio Likes this wine: 92 pointsA great red Burgundy wine! Very rich on the nose, with aromas of lovely red berries. The fresh, medium-bodied and very refined mouthfeel is dominated by intensive and elegant cranberry aromas. A fairly typical and a very stylish wine from this region! I am happy to have still another bottle in my wine fridge! |
