This is like the Goldilocks of the most recent Kistler Chardonnays I've been drinking; just right. Light in color, beautiful nose that prompted me to inhale before every sip, just that nice. Tropical, as in pineapple, melon, lemon. Touches of vanilla, butterscotch, but not overwhelmingly so. Perfect finish, that lingers just long enough and has a crisp finale. Loved all the classic features of an excellent Russian River Valley Chardonnay-rich, full, luxurious, complex and without the petrol that some others have and I do not like. Paired with a dinner my daughters made of grilled scallops, pureed carrots with cumin, and a roasted eggplant/red onion/avocado salad. Perfection.

Best Kistler that I've ever had. Definitely more of a mineral-driven chard, which is more 'my style.' The nose of this wine right after cork pop is a litlte peculiar, but gets a lot more enjoyable after 30 minutes. Nose of Asian pear, mango, melon, tame citrus notes. These notes are repeated on the palate, with a mineral density. On the entry, this is a wine that has rounded edges yet stone ground fruit palate. Finish is still quite dry. Herb rich, fruit dominant, dry. Beautiful. This one will go a few more years for sure.

way too sweet fake buttered oak for me especially on pop and pour. this faded a bit and acid popped a bit more after half hour or so but still just candied and fake tasting to my palate. used to love this stuff!

Nearly twelve years since birth, this wine is holding it's form exceptionally well.

On the nose, I detect hazelnuts and brioche. On the palette, the wine glides across the tongue with concentrated expressions of butterscotch, shortbread and honey. The acidity is perfect. It's light on it's feet, and just begs to be consumed.

I don't detect signs of decline, but this wine is not going to evolve to a better place at this point. Drink over the next 24 months to avoid disappointment.

Tons of tropical fruit and vanilla — notes of pineapple, apple, lemon, lime, and mango skins. Oaky, but perfectly oaky. Thick, dense, milky texture. Very complex and delicious with perfect acidity and tons of minerality. Delicious! This will cruise in the cellar.

Wow this is classy. Has a tropical personality, with a friendly thrust of pineapple and banana, rounded out with a chorus of Meyer lemon, tangerine, river stone, chive, and nutmeg-flecked oak. The finish is long, airy, and delicious. 93+.

Slow-ox’ed for 2 hours at room temp from a cold cellar. The bouquet was an expressive mix of lime blossom, sea brine, peaches, and oak. The oak has not entirely integrated, but when drinking it, it hardly matters. If you lean towards the buttery Chardonnay spectrum, drink this ASAP. If you’re like me, and prefer a bit more salinity, hang on for three to five more (long) years. Either way, you can’t lose.

It smells like diacetyl (butter), honeydew, honeysuckle and honey. The body is medium. The wine finishes medium. It tastes like honey, diacetyl (butter) and honeydew. The legs are slow. There is light sediment in the bottle. The wine has polished texture.

Yellow with a golden tint. Creamy butterscotch, caramel, vanilla and ripe apple. Coravined s glass on two successive , went well with grilled chicken and brown rice. Well made, nicely balanced and aging well.

Delicious and expansive. Mouth watering acidity. I was hoping for a more complex wine but didn't find what I was looking for. Still a delicious wine nonetheless.

One of my two favorite Kistler vineyards, along with Hudson. Charismatically oily texture is present, along with very long finish, and very complex nose hard to describe.

Undercurrents of fruit beneath the oak on the nose. On tasting the oak has yet to fully integrate but the acidity is sharp. Will wait a few years to open more

More gold in color and toasty than all but the Hyde, this had an open-knit and generous quality that was deliciousAromas of Meyer lemon, brioche, and vanillin. Flavors of cantaloupe, creme brûlée, golden apple, and quince, with a compelling finish. 14.4% alcohol. I know Kistler has a reputation for oaky indulgence, but this wine had real cut and precision tonight. 94 at the moment.

With Valerie and Eileen. Last bottle from a batch bought direct at release. Slight chill, PnP.

Medium gold color. Slight taint on the nose - not a full premox as others note - but masking some of the fruit. Palate showing citrus, honey, pineapple. Improved with air time, showing more creaminess through the mid palate. The nose taint was somewhat present on the palate - unfortunate as there is good fruit beneath

Without the nose funk this would have been a mid 90s wine. Like many of my aged Kistlers - this didn't hold up as expected. Perhaps newer bottles will do better, compared to other high end CA Chardonnay in my cellar (e.g. Aubert, Peter Michael, Mt Eden), my Kistler purchases don't show with much quality past about 5 years.

Deep yellow with medium body in glass. I popped and poured this one picking up honeysuckle and minerality on the nose and palette. Acidic and vibrant mouthfeel with a lengthy finish. Excellent Kistler effort. B&A visit.

Kistler is my favorite US Chardonnay. 2014 probably close to end of prime drinking window. Compared to couple of years ago the acidity is down and extremely smooth. Fruity with peach lemon but again not acidic. At this point reminds me of a southern Rhône blend with slight sweetness. If not for the price it would be only Chardonnay I would drink. Compares favorably to a Burgandy from Montrachet costing several times more.
