Clear, medium intensity ruby color.

The nose is developing with a medium aroma intensity. Aromas of fresh plums, cassis, oak, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, eucalyptus, fresh cut herbs and wet gravel.

Dry on the palate with a medium acidity, medium(+) body and medium tannins. The flavor intensity is medium with flavors of inky cassis, plums, oak, vanilla, coffee and herbs. The finish is medium(+) with cassis and eucalyptus.

This wine was a true surprise! It's in a really nice drinking phase right now. Open and enjoyable with lots of Aussie Cabiness! Margaret River is an area which one should pay more attention to!

Good-very good, 13.5% alc.
Colour: black berry
Bouquet: red and black fruits, especially cherries, some spice and alcohol
Palate: red and black fruits, spice and pepper, fruit driven, alcohol evident, soft tannins, good acid, shortish finish, but lacking depth and grip

Ha ha......also a purchase from a dire GC bottle o! Commercial grade chard but not with specks of class. Citrus fruits with some sweetness and a backend of bitter fruits and even a nutty note. No oak to see. I've seen this as low as $13, excellent drinking at the price.

Smashable Margaret River Cab Merl with heaps more tannin and all round quality than you'd expect at this price point. Superb.

Gold in colour, the nose is rich and full, sweet fruit, a little grass and some caramel. These are all present in the taste, along with very well balanced acid and a full silky mouth feel. A long perfumed finish completes the package.

Bright crimson-purple, smooth and balanced.
Extremely good value for wine under $10 from Margaret River!
It will develop even better in years to come.
Just bought 6 bottles to put in my cellar.

Quite a rich, worked nose – lots of spicy oak, with tropical fruits and butterscotch. The palate is an improvement though – yes, the same flavours are present, but there is nice acidity and everything is in balance. A MR chardonnay for rich food. Should gain in complexity over the next 2-5 years I reckon. I may not be the biggest fan of this style of wine, but I sure can appreciate the effort!

Now getting too late for this. Little left of the expected liveliness of the prime period, but (surprisingly given it's erratic storage) not off.

Really nice, lovely aroma of white peach, oak, a little butter. Oaky but balanced on the palate with lovely white fruit and a really long finish. Should see out a short to medium rest in the cellar. Very impressive at the price I thought.

I will be totally honest with you here, I bought this wine strictly for the label ... I did not care that it was Shiraz, I did not care that it was Australian and I did not give one iota that it was from the famous Margaret River appellation ... I thought the label was interesting and there you have it, into my cellar it went. Now I don't remember the price but I it had to have been good cause at one point I had 4 bottles of this sucker - but I am now down to my last bottle and I hoped I had not waited too long to drink it. I can thankfully say that I had not, though it did show its age it was not over the hill. A nose of dried blackberry and dried cherry kicked things off and with a little aeration it began to develop cocoa to go with the dried fruits. Taste was also interesting, it started off still quite tannic with spiced-dried cherry and pencil shaving notes - but it also had a decent amount of acidity holding it together ... once again I tried to give it a little air through the aerator and that seemed to enhance the spice and pepperiness. All-in-all a good bottle that not only had a pretty label but some nice wine inside.

2hr decant was about right. I've never been sure about this wine, but it has clearly improved and will probably be slightly better in a couple more years. Dark and concentrated, aromatic with characteristic black olive and bayleaf notes and an earthy/dusty taste. Slightly rustic and for me lacks the balance of say a Yarra Yering #1. Drink 2014-2020.

{screwcap, 13.5%} Very cabernet; herbs, leaves, root and branch. Doesn't quite avoid a hint of real green either, which compounds on the palate; it's a bit thin and astringent. Not generous, but lacks depth of fruit to make up for the austere nature of the flavours. Medium-body. Had the impression this was Franklin river rather than Margaret River. Anyway, a straightforward wine to drink and move on.

Rich butterscotch roasted honeyed macadamia nuts. Almost like an aged honeyed semillion. Meursault like but probably with doses of honey and maybe a drop of Sauternes. An aged example of a the modernly influenced chard.

Lovely wine, still quite tight but very precise. Lovely lifted floral nose, slick and streamlined palate of white peaches and cashews and light background oak. Really well balanced and a structure often missing in many Australian chardonnays. Well worth the price.
