No longer the opulent wine Parker once described it as, this had become an attractive but somewhat staid drink with excellent color but concentration that was borderline thin. It had copious (but ripe) tannins, and there were candied cherries, mushrooms, and a touch of licorice on the nose and the grippy palate. Showing about 70/30 fruit to tertiary notes. Better nearer room temperature than cellar temperature. 13.5% ABV (very good/***/16/91) |

The finish lasts until tomorrow, but it’s a long, slow smooth ride to that ultimate end. Oodles of years left in this of course. In fact, I’m probably drinking it a bit early although it does well both right out of the bottle (with an atypical closure for the region). Glad I have more! |
